The Agency for Information and Privacy is closely following the level of respect for the privacy of citizens by public institutions, with special emphasis on health institutions, as controllers of personal data.

In the circumstances created in our country by the spread of COVID 19 virus, it is more than necessary to exchange information in support of efforts to address this global pandemic.

However, this exchange must be made in full compliance with the provisions of the Law on Personal Data Protection, given that we are dealing with sensitive data, the publication without criteria of which may constitute interference with the privacy of the individual.

The Agency for Information and Privacy advises medical personnel, who are doing selfless work in preventing and treating all those who are seeking help, to share the data of patients suspected or affected by this virus only with health professionals, by adhering to the principle of restricting access to this data, so as not to share it with third parties without the prior consent of the data subject.

At the same time, the Agency requires the print, audiovisual media, those of online platforms, as well as any other public or private entity, in fulfilment of their mission of full and fair public information, to be careful in respecting human dignity and the private lives of citizens.

In view of the situation and the measures taken to prevent it, the Agency for Information and Privacy encourages citizens to, if they have complaints about access to public documents, as well as the protection of personal data, to submit them only by email to the address: info.aip@rks-gov.net and/or ankesa.aip@rks-gov.net
