The Agency supervisors attended the round table discussions on the topic “The Day of Safe Internet”

The meeting organized by the "Kosovo Education Centre" KEC in cooperation with several other institutions that are in interaction with each other, presented in front of the participants very important information regarding the safe use of the Internet, respectively regarding the topic '' Child Safety on the Internet”.
Among the representatives of the “Centre for Advanced Studies-FIT”, Ministry of Education Science and Technology, Kosovo Police, an important part of this organization was also the National Agency for the Protection of Personal Data, where as guest of honour, Mr. Ruzhdi Jashari, Chief National Supervisor, with a speech on “Privacy and Use of Internet by Children”  thanked the organizers and all those who in a way work in the protection of children from the consequences of misuse of the Internet.

Part of the panel was the Deputy Chief National Supervisor, Mr. Mentor Hoxhaj, where he spoke about the danger of using the internet. Afterwards Mr. Hoxhaj presented to the attendees the results of research conducted by the Agency with the pupils through the project “Privacy in the Digital Age'' of which resulted in over 98% of young people in Kosovo are internet users. The device that is mostly used for access the internet is the so-called “smart phones” and other, results that motivate us to work and make such and as many arrangements towards protecting young people from the consequences of using the internet.

In the conference, among other things it was said that more than 76 percent of children in our country have uncontrolled access to the internet, where besides to information they also have access to inappropriate contents for them. The representative of the EU office in Pristina, Mrs. Gaby Hagmuller, said that children, besides using the internet for information, they also have access to inappropriate content. The PMO representative, Mr. Habit Hajredini, highlighted that Kosovo is among the countries of the region that large number of children have access to the internet. Kushtrim Bajrami from the "Kosovo Education Centre" KEC said that a strategic plan has been drafted that envisages several objectives to protect children from uncontrolled use of the Internet.

As a conclusion, in the conference several objectives of the strategic plan were mentioned to protect children from the dangers in internet, also some recommendations from the participants along with panellists were made, that the main attention should be paid to educational institutions, both pupils and teachers while using the internet and the protection of children from its consequences.
