Under the chairmanship of the Commissioner for Data and Information Protection of the Republic of Albania, on 29 and 30 April 2015, at Hotel Adriatic in Durres, was held the 17th meeting of Central and Eastern Europe Data Protection Authorities.
The works of this meeting were focused on the topic "Privacy and Technology: Challenges and Opportunities'.
National Agency for Protection of Personal Data was represented at this meeting for the first time by the three-member delegation of NAPPD (R. Jashari, R. Qehaja, Shpend Reçica), headed by the Chief National Supervisor, Ruzhdi Jashari. On this occasion, the Chief National Supervisor of the Agency, in front of the participants made a comprehensive presentation about Kosovo's authority for protection of personal data.
The application of the Agency to become a permanent part of this forum was submitted while ago, and thus the members of this group of authorities, headed this year by the authority of Albania, through the majority of votes accepted the Authority of Kosovo to become a member.
The membership of the Agency in this forum will enable NAPPD to benefit from the experience of countries in the region in increasing the awareness of citizens for protection of their privacy as well as to increase the knowledge in meeting the obligations for protection of personal data and privacy in conformity with international law and with the best practices in protection of personal data and privacy.
At the closing session of this forum, it was decided the 18th meeting to be organized next year in Bosnia and it will be led by the local authority.
