The National Agency held the following Workshop with the Data Protection Officials in Gjilan

The National Chief Supervisor. Mr. Ruzhdi Jashari, and the Director of the Legal Department Mr. Valon Kryeziu attended today the workshop organized by the OSCE in Gjilan Municipality.
During the Workshop organized by the OSCE Gjilan, in cooperation with the National Agency for Protection of Personal Data, it was concluded that there is an undisputed need for establishing a balance between the Law on Access to Public Documents and the Law on the Protection of Personal Data
Mrs. Nancy Jasharaj from the Democratization Department of the OSCE, opened the workshop by stressing that the purpose of this meeting is a result of the lack of relevant knowledge of the officials for the legitimacy of processing personal data and their publishing, which has incited the OSCE to organize workshops in several municipalities in order to disseminate as much basic information as possible in relation to this issue.
Mr. Chief State Supervisor. Rushdie Jashari provided a summary presentation about the role of the Agency in this regard. While Mr. Valon Kryeziu made an interpretation of the Law on Protection of Personal Data, and its balance with the Law on Access to Public Documents. The points where these two laws contradict each other were mentioned, and their balancing was discussed in cooperation with the participants.
During this meeting, Mr. Ulrich Biffar, Director of the OSCE Centre in Gjilan, with a welcoming speech stressed the importance of the theme of the meeting, and thanked the National Agency for Protection of Personal Data, and assured participants that they are doing a very sensitive and significant work. At the end of his speech, he addressed a message that people need to give a better thought before posting something from their privacy on Internet.
