Interactive Meeting with Public Officials on the Implementation of the Law on Access to Public Documents

Officials responsible for access to public documents were provided with practical advice by AIP and OPM officials regarding the implementation of the Law on Access to Public Documents.

The Office of Public Communication of the Office of the Prime Minister in coordination with the Agency for Information and Privacy and with the support of the Swedish Agency for International Development (AIDA) held the first cycle of information meetings on the implementation of the Law on Access to Public Documents.
The leader of the panel and lecturer at this meeting was Mr. Jeton Arifi, Head of Public Access Pillar within the Agency for Information and Privacy, who revealed the innovations brought by the new law covering this field, answering all the questions of those present representing public institutions.
Part of the panel was also Mr. Ismet Cakiqi, Coordinator of the Office for Information in the OPM, who, in his introductory speech, among other things, stressed that the delay in the election of the Commissioner for Information has resulted in delays in the adoption of bylaws of the relevant law.
At the end of this meeting, as a very important request expressed by the officials themselves for access to documents was that such informative meetings be organized for key administrative officials, who according to this law have the responsibility of decision making when handling public requests for access in public documents.
Thanking them for their participation, Mr. Arifi reminded the officials that their serious work and commitment in the dignified and responsible treatment of access requests will increase the citizens' trust in public institutions.
