The Agency for Protection of Personal Data in its cooperation with the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology organized a three-day workshop in Peja, whereby the participants generated a guideline on the camera surveillance systems.
In addition to the participants from the Agency, the representatives of MEST and the Security Council Secretariat also contributed to the drafting this guideline.
The guideline was an idea launched during the last year secondary education schools campaign that derived as a conclusion from the findings of the Agency's team, that stressed that camera surveillance is applied without any criteria.
This guideline addresses the security needs of educational institutions, respecting and preserving individual privacy, which shall be applied by the entire staff of the educational institution using the security cameras and monitoring and camera-surveillance systems.
By defining these criteria is regulated the matter of using the camera system for surveillance and recording of educational institutions facilities for security purposes.
In cooperation with the Ministry of Education, the Agency shall publish and disseminate this guideline to educational institutions at all levels within the country.
It is worth noting that this publication fills a gap in applying camera surveillance in the education sector, and its implementation will allow educational institutions provide property protection and personal security based on legal criteria, without violating the individual's privacy as a right guaranteed by the law.
