The results of survey realized with citizens are disclosed

National Agency for Protection of Personal Data on 4th anniversary of its establishment, has realized in the center of city an survey in order to obtain knowledge regarding the level of information of the citizens on their rights and personal data.
The survey conducted by the qualitative method, with random respondents, because there were only 150 respondents surveyed, with only three questions, of which we can have a rough overview on the right to privacy, personal data and mandated authority for this field.
The results of this survey revealed the real situation of citizens’ knowledge concerning the existence of the state institution mandated by the Assembly of Kosovo exclusively to help its citizens on the matters related to their privacy. The Authority for Personal Data Protection of the Republic of Kosovo, established four years ago, still considers as unknown for more than a half of the countries’ citizens.  
In the question asked: if there is an Authority in Kosovo, which protects personal data, 56% of the respondents answered they did not know, while 44% of them stated that they had knowledge of the existence of this Authority. There are 38 persons out of the percentage of those informed about the Agency, whereas 22 others think that as responsible institution for this matter might be, the Ministry of Justice, Municipality or government institutions. 
Based on this information, a plan for an ad hoc project shall develop, as a measure of improvement of the current situation and promotion of the Agency, aim of which would be promotion of existence of this Authority, public disclosure its scope of work, the mission and vision of the Agency, in which adult citizens would be the focus. 
Thanks to this awareness project it will be included also the measure to mitigate the current situation regarding the aspect of handling with potential complaints, concentrating also on the more accurate information of  the citizens regarding the location of the object of the Agency and of practical and easier  ways to directly address their concerns of the privacy nature. The awareness campaign will start in September of this year and will end in June of the next year.
