In the office of the Commissioner of the Agency for Information and Privacy, today was hosted the General Director of Police, with whom, the head of this agency discussed about the topics of common inter-institutional interest, for which joint commitment is required.
To guarantee the privacy of citizens, it was deemed necessary to coordinate the actions of the Agency and the Police, in order to ensure that the Law on Personal Data Protection is being implemented by data controllers from the public and private sector.
Mr. Samedin Mehmeti and Mrs. Krenare Sogojeva Dërmaku, during discussions on privacy protection, agreed to take coordinated steps to monitor the application of camera surveillance in public spaces, then to keep under control the publication of personal data of suspects. Among other things, they pledged to exchange information between the institutions they lead regarding possible privacy breaches that may occur within the police.
To formalize this increased level of cooperation, Ms. Sogojeva and Mr. Mehmeti promised to soon sign a memorandum of cooperation between the two relevant institutions.
