Regional Information Sessions to Strengthen Personal Data Protection at the Local Level

The Information and Privacy Agency, in cooperation with the CiviKos Platform and the Institute for Technology and Society, has launched the organization of Regional Information Sessions on personal data protection.
📍 So far, these sessions have been held in the regions of Gjilan, Peja, and Prizren, involving representatives from local public institutions, civil society organizations, and businesses.
🔎 The aim of these sessions is to strengthen practical knowledge for the implementation of obligations deriving from the Law on Personal Data Protection, as well as to enhance institutional mechanisms for privacy protection at the local level. In particular, participants have been informed about:
📄 Legal responsibilities for the processing of personal data in the public and private sectors;
🛡 The role of Data Protection Officers within relevant institutions and organizations;
💻 The impact of technology on information security and the challenges posed in the digital age;
🧩 Practical field examples and challenges encountered during the implementation of the law in local contexts.
ℹ️ These activities are organized as part of the project “Empowering Personal Data Protection and Cybersecurity Across All Sectors in Kosovo”, supported by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Kosovo.
The Information and Privacy Agency will continue organizing similar sessions in other municipalities across the country, aiming to build a comprehensive and sustainable culture of personal data protection in Kosovo.
