Heads of Institutions from Kosovo and Albania sign the Cooperation Agreement on Freedom of Information and Protection of Personal Data

The Commissioner of the Kosovo Information and Privacy Agency, Mrs. Krenare Sogojeva Dërmaku, has signed a Cooperation Agreement with the Commissioner for the Right to Information and Personal Data Protection in Albania, Mr. Besnik Dervishi

The Commissioner of the Information and Privacy Agency of Kosovo, Ms. Krenare Sogojeva Dërmaku, visited Tirana at the invitation of the Commissioner for the Right to Information and Personal Data Protection, Mr. Besnik Dervishi. The purpose of the visit was to sign the Cooperation Agreement of a technical nature between the two institutions, which enjoy a special relationship between them, but thanks to this Agreement, will be consolidated and further developed.

This Cooperation Agreement is based on three main pillars: the periodic exchange of experiences and staff for the increase of professional and administrative capacities, in the framework of the modernization of legislation in both areas of activity according to the most advanced European standards; support to IPA for membership in various organizations, such as the International Conference of Information Commissioners (ICIC), the European Conference of Personal Data Protection Authorities (ECDPA), the Consultative Committee of Council of Europe Convention 108 (T-PD) ), etc .; as well as in mutual recognition as states with a sufficient level of adequacy of personal data protection (adequacy), for sustainable development of the economy and exchange between the two countries.

During the meeting, the two Commissioners discussed the possibility of implementing joint projects. They aim to strengthen the trust and awareness of citizens to exercise their rights, parallel with increasing the transparency and accountability of Public Authorities and the accountability of ethics by public and private controllers/processors.

The Commissioners praised and shared the same position that this Cooperation Agreement is a very important step and the launch of a new dynamic stage in bilateral relations.

Mrs. Sogojeva Dërmaku was also hosted in a different meeting by the Ombudsperson of Republic of Albania Mrs. Erinda Ballanca.
