The Commissioner for Information and Privacy, Ms. Krenare Sogojeva-Dërmaku, officially welcomed the Croatian Personal Data Protection Commissioner and Deputy Chair of the European Data Protection Board (EDPB), Mr. Zdravko Vukić, as well as Prof. Giovanni Maria Riccio, Professor of Privacy and Technology Law at the University of Salerno, Italy

As part of this visit, Commissioner Sogojeva-Dërmaku delivered the opening address at the conference “Navigating the Digital Transformation of the Financial Sector – Opportunities and Challenges in the Age of AI”, organized by ProCredit Bank. She presented the Agency’s latest actions towards aligning with and regulating AI, while emphasizing the importance of balancing technological innovation with the protection of citizens’ fundamental rights.

Meanwhile, Prof. Giovanni Maria Riccio participated in a thematic panel on the challenges and opportunities of digital transformation in the financial sector.
As an international expert in privacy and technology law, he shared an academic perspective on the impact of Artificial Intelligence on fundamental rights in an increasingly automated financial environment.

In continuation of the program, Commissioner Sogojeva-Dërmaku and Commissioner Vukić visited the Faculty of Law at the University of Prishtina, where they were welcomed by the Dean, Avni Puka and representatives of the academic staff. The meeting emphasized the importance of strengthening academic cooperation between Kosovo and Croatia, with the goal of fostering sustainable awareness among students on the protection of personal data
