The Information and Privacy Agency calls Public Companies to protect the citizens’ personal data during the invoice distribution process

In the framework of ensuring the protection of personal data of the citizens of the Republic of Kosovo, the Information and Privacy Agency has called Central and Local Public Enterprises to provide services to citizens (invoice distribution) in a format that guarantees the protection of citizens’ personal data from exposure and unauthorized access.

Central and Local Public Enterprises are obliged to apply appropriate security measures when providing services to citizens (invoice distribution) and to establish suitable technical and organizational measures to ensure an adequate level of security against potential risks of abuse with citizens’ personal data.

The Agency’s request to the Central and Local Public Enterprises was made after the informative meetings held with the Chief Executive Officers and Chairs of the Boards of the institutions. To fulfil the legal requirement of personal data protection, in accordance with Law No. 06/L-082 on Protection of Personal Data, the Information and Privacy Agency has asked the public companies to take action by June 30, 2024.

The request of the Information and Privacy Agency has been sent to the following central and local public enterprises: Central Public Enterprise “KEDS”, “Prishtina” Regional Water Company in Prishtina, “Termokos” J.S.C. Public Enterprise in Prishtina, “Hidromorava” Public Enterprise in Gjilan, “Hidrodrini” Regional Company in Peja, “Bifurkacioni” Regional Water Company in Ferizaj, “Pastrimi” J.S.C. Regional Waste Company in Prishtina, “Ekoregjioni” J.S.C. Regional Waste Company in Prizren, “Higjiena” L.P.E. Regional Waste Company in Deçan, “Mitrovica” Public Water Enterprise in Mitrovica, “Çabrati” Regional Waste Company in Gjakova, “Ecohigjiena” Regional Waste Company in Gjilan, “Pastertia” Regional Waste Company in Ferizaj, “Ambienti” J.S.C. Regional Waste Company in Peja and Regional Waste Company “KRU Hidroregjioni Jugor’’sh.a, in Prizren.
