The Global Privacy Assembly brings together over 160 representatives of member and observer authorities, including academics, representatives of civil society, the private sector, interest groups and experts in the field of personal data protection. This platform aims to strengthen the effectiveness of existing legal frameworks and promote their adaptability to technological developments, promoting a culture of accountability and transparency in the handling of personal data. The conference also supports the development of data self-management skills by individuals.
In this edition, important topics were addressed, including:
• Assessing the impact of privacy harms in the modern context,
• Protection of personal data and mental health,
• The role of technology in the functioning of regulatory authorities and the challenges of data transfer,
• Data exchange between government and third parties,
• Rights of data subjects and international transfer of personal data,
• Interconnection of filing systems.
During the conference, Commissioner Sogojeva-Dërmaku held separate meetings with representatives of international authorities, sharing the experiences of the Information and Privacy Agency in implementing the Law on Personal Data Protection. These meetings served as an opportunity for networking and strengthening international cooperation, with the aim of approximating the highest international standards in Kosovo. The Assembly also provided a forum for open discussion, exchange of ideas and experiences, and for identifying solutions to ongoing and future challenges in protecting privacy in the digital age.
