In an informative meeting today between the Information and Privacy Agency (IPA) and the Kosovo Banking Association (KBA), members of the Cybersecurity Committee within KBA and representatives from the relevant departments responsible for personal data protection gathered to discuss the importance of safeguarding personal data and strengthening compliance measures in accordance with the applicable legislation. One of the key topics of discussion was the presentation of the Personal Data Breach Identification Platform, a new mechanism designed to assist public and private institutions in Kosovo in monitoring and preventing potential violations of personal data security.
The Commissioner for Information and Privacy, Ms. Krenare Sogojeva Dërmaku, emphasized that the protection of personal data is a shared responsibility that requires close inter-institutional cooperation. In particular, she highlighted that the establishment of this platform represents a significant step towards improving oversight and ensuring an effective response to incidents that threaten a fundamental citizen right—personal data protection.
Mr. Kreshnik Kosumi, Operations Manager at KBA, highly valued this initiative, emphasizing that banks in Kosovo are committed to implementing best practices in handling citizens’ data and strengthening data security measures. Meanwhile, KBA representatives reaffirmed the banking sector’s commitment to personal data protection, stressing that adherence to privacy standards remains an ongoing priority for financial institutions.
