Consultative Roundtable on “The Needs and Challenges of Digitalizing Public Services in the Context of Human Rights and Personal Data Protection”

At the invitation of the Civil Rights Program Kosovo (CRP/K), the Information and Privacy Commissioner, Ms. Krenare Sogojeva Dermaku, participated in the consultative roundtable on the Recommendations of the Resolution adopted in Ohrid on Digitalization and Personal Data Protection in the Western Balkans, where the need for harmonizing regional actions during the digitalization of public administration in line with EU standards was emphasized.
Commissioner Sogojeva-Dermaku discussed digitalization as an inevitable process and the impact of Artificial Intelligence, calling for the engagement of institutions and policymakers in creating a legal framework that ensures the protection of personal data as a fundamental right of citizens.
Meanwhile, the Ombudsman, Naim Çelaj, underlined the need for regional coordination in advancing the digitalization of public services that are accessible, inclusive, and non-discriminatory for citizens.
The discussion reaffirmed that the digital future requires strengthening institutional capacities and cooperation to ensure that all citizens benefit from and use secure digital services.
