The Commissioner for Information and Privacy, Mrs. Krenare Sogojeva Dermaku, hosted a meeting with the Director of the Anti-Corruption Agency, Mr. Yll Buleshkaj, to discuss the possibility of cooperation between AIP and ACA, in increasing transparency and accountability of public institutions while preventing and combating corruption.
The Commissioner informed the Director of ACA about the actions and decisions of IPA during the monitoring of the implementation of the Law on Access to Public Documents and the Law on Personal Data Protection, while emphasizing that inter-institutional cooperation is necessary to strictly respect the legal framework related to accountability and transparency and respectively guaranteeing the protection of personal data.
On the other hand, Mr. Buleshkaj said that the priority in realizing the scope of the Anti-Corruption Agency in preventing and combating corruption is the transparency and accountability of the institution, in particular cooperation with the media and non-governmental organizations, always within the legal framework, carefully maintaining and treating the confidentiality of cases and pieces of information that are guaranteed by law.
In the meeting between the two leaders of independent institutions was discussed the process of declaration of assets and the Director of ACA, Mr. Yll Buleshkaj said that in the report on the implementation of the law on personal data protection, on the occasion of the publication of registers of declaration of assets for about 5000 senior public officials, ACA will act with maximum precision to protect the personal data of the declaring entities during the publication of the declaration of assets, as defined by the law.
The two leaders of the institutions agreed on mutual cooperation in the implementation of laws that fall under the responsibility of implementing and monitoring both independent institutions.
