20i7 Initiative – The Sixth Meeting of Personal Data Protection Authorities “20i7 Initiative”, in Zadar, Croatia

The Commissioner for Information and Privacy, Krenare Sogojeva-Dërmaku and the General Director of the Agency, Lumnije Demi have participated in the 20i7 Initiative, an event which gathers personal data protection authorities from the countries of the region to strengthen regional cooperation and offer opportunity to exchange experiences on advanced standards related to the right to privacy and protection of personal data.
Since our personal data protection law is fully compliant with the GDPR, Commissioner Krenare Sogojeva-Dërmaku discussed the Agency’s efforts to harmonize the legal framework with European standards for the protection of personal data, in particular Convention 108 and the European Directive for Law Enforcement known as LED.
During the discussions, the Commissioner presented the concrete actions undertaken by the Agency for the creation of a network of officials for the protection of personal data, emphasizing the importance of strengthening this position to ensure the effective implementation of the law. She also discussed the importance of initiatives to raise awareness of institutions to ensure the implementation of legal regulations for the protection of citizens’ personal data.
Authorities from Croatia, Slovenia, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina participated in the sixth meeting of “Initiative 20i7”, who pledged mutual cooperation in the field of personal data protection.
