The roundtable organized by the Independent Media Commission (IMC) included three discussion panels. The first panel, on the topic “The role of the media during the 2025 elections”, was attended by the Commissioner for Information and Privacy, Ms. Krenare Sogojeva Dërmaku. The panel, moderated by Mr. Bashkim Vishaj, included other panelists such as:
• Mr. Jeton Mehmeti, Chairman of the IMC,
• Ms. Pascale Roussy, Director of the Democratization Department at the OSCE,
• Mr. Kreshnik Radoniqi, Chairman of the Central Election Commission (CEC).
During the discussions, Commissioner Sogojeva Dërmaku emphasized the importance of respecting legal principles and standards related to the right to protection of personal data and access to public documents during election campaigns, appreciating inter-institutional cooperation and the active role of the media in ensuring a transparent electoral process towards citizens and accountable reporting.
The purpose of this discussion was to review and present the Draft Regulation on the obligations of media service providers during the election campaign, enabling interested parties and the public to provide their contributions.
