Homologous Authorities from Kosovo and North Macedonia Collaborate on Personal Data Protection

The Commissioner for Information and Privacy, Krenare Sogojeva-Dërmaku, held a meeting with her counterpart from North Macedonia, Imer Aliu, the Director of the Agency for Personal Data Protection. The purpose of this meeting was to solidify cooperation between the two authorities in the field of personal data protection, with a particular emphasis on exchanging experiences related to inspections and controls.
Commissioner Sogojeva-Dërmaku emphasized that the protection of citizens’ personal data is a priority for the Agency for Information and Privacy. She noted that the exchange of experiences between the two authorities is crucial for ensuring citizens’ rights guaranteed by the Constitution, such as the protection of personal data.
Director Imer Aliu expressed his readiness to further deepen collaboration between the authorities in specific areas of personal data protection through activities that would enhance knowledge and address common challenges.
The meeting between the two institutional leaders was held within the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding signed in June of this year and continued with the organization of a two-day workshop focused on exchanging best practices for personal data protection and inspections in the fields of impact assessment, inspections, and controls within the Health and Telecommunications sectors.
