Information and Privacy Agency Part of the of the Workshop of the European Authorities for Freedom of Information in Madrid

Under the organization of the Secretariat of the German Federal Homologous Authority, and with the participation of appeal authorities in the field of freedom of information from twelve European countries, the Commissioner for Information and Privacy, Krenare Sogojeva Dermaku, together with the Director of the Department for Access to Public Documents, Jeton Arifi, and the Head of the Division for Review of Complaints for Access to Documents, Arberi Hiseni, participated in the “Case Handling Workshop on Freedom of Information” in Madrid, Spain.
AIP representatives presented the topic “Initiation of Declassification of Classified Information” and the Agency’s competences in this field defined according to the Law on Access to Public Documents. The topic aroused great interest among the participants for the importance of citizens’ access to information, public interest and transparency in state activity.
The performance of AIP representatives and the contributions evaluated by other authorities resulted in the voting of Kosovo as the place where the next workshop of this forum will be organized. This decision strengthens the Agency’s efforts to advance the field of freedom of information and protection of personal data according to the highest standards.
