Information and Privacy Agency Participating in the Annual Conference of the European Authorities for the Protection of Personal Data, known as “Spring Conference”, in Riga, Latvia

Under the organization of the State Inspectorate of Personal Data of Latvia, the Commissioner for Information and Privacy, Ms. Krenare Sogojeva-Dermaku, together with the AIP staff, have participated in the 32nd edition of the Spring Conference of Authorities for the Protection of Personal Data.
The Spring Conference brings together leaders and officials of the European Personal Data Protection Authorities, the President of the European Data Protection Board, judges of the European Court of Human Rights and experts in the field of personal data protection, with the aim of discussing and sharing best experiences in dealing with cases that are carried out by the EU authorities.
In this conference, important topics were addressed including:
– Implementation of the GDPR and its issues
– Interaction of data protection with legal frameworks and competition law
– The role and duties of officials for the protection of personal data
– Impact of social networks and technology on privacy
– Automatic data processing and good practices when processing personal data
– Rights of the subject of personal data and transfer of personal data
– File system interconnection
Commissioner, Mrs. Krenare Sogojeva-Dermaku, through special meetings with representatives of European authorities, had the opportunity to share the experiences of the Information and Privacy Agency during the implementation of the Law on Personal Data Protection. These meetings also served for networking and for promoting international cooperation, with the aim of establishing the highest European standards in Kosovo.
