Information and Privacy Agency participates in the 47th Global Privacy Assembly in Seoul

The Commissioner for Information and Privacy, Ms. Krenare Sogojeva Dermaku, participated in the 47th Global Privacy Assembly (GPA), held in Seoul, South Korea, from 15 to 19 September 2025.
This year’s Assembly focused on the theme:
“Artificial Intelligence in Our Daily Lives: Data and Privacy Issues,”
reflecting on the challenges of aligning technological developments with fundamental rights to privacy and personal data protection.
🤝 Bilateral meetings and new international partnerships
During this high-level forum, the Commissioner held bilateral meetings with representatives of supervisory authorities and international organizations, with a focus on establishing sustainable partnerships and launching new cooperation initiatives:
🔹 Meeting with Mr. John Paul Rodriguez, Commissioner of the Gibraltar Regulatory Authority – a meeting that precedes the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to formalize inter-institutional cooperation.
🔹 Meeting with Mr. Noriswadi Ismail, Senior Director for Data Privacy at GSMA, where the potential for hosting an international conference on digital privacy in Kosovo was discussed, alongside cooperation in the field of global privacy advocacy, capacity-building, and exchange of institutional priorities for 2026.
🔹 Meeting with representatives of the Isle of Man and Guernsey authorities, exploring new avenues for mutual cooperation and joint projects in the field of data protection.
📜 As part of the closed sessions, the GPA adopted an international resolution on the protection of personal data in the training of artificial intelligence models, outlining clear guiding principles for the responsible use of personal data in this context, and reaffirming that any AI-related technological development must fully comply with existing legal frameworks and privacy standards.
Through this active participation, the Information and Privacy Agency strengthens its role within the global data protection network, paving the way for new international initiatives, enhanced strategic influence, and the advancement of privacy standards in the Republic of Kosovo. 📣🌍
